Turreted gorgeous Georgian house, located 1hr from both Edinburgh & Glasgow, staying here you will feel miles away from urban life, though in reality you are only a few minutes from the prestigious Gleneagles Hotel, golf courses, excellent local shops, restaurants & railway stations.
The house is an ideal base for large groups of family, friends & even Hens.
The setting, the spectacular vista & the wildlife is what will draw you in & make you never want to leave.
Ground Floor
Large and spacious with a modern, country-style kitchen, which has a dining table for 10, four-oven Aga, induction hob, built-in double electric oven, two dishwashers and a fridge freezer (additional fridge & freezer located in the pantry), with additional seating at the large centre island. A washing machine and tumble drier are located in the utility/loo off the dining room.
The new, larger dining room, off the kitchen now comfortably seats up to 24, if booking the main house and both cottages. The side hall off the dining room leads to a new combined utility & loo, which houses the washing machine and tumble drier, sink and cupboards. The vacuum cleaner, iron & ironing board and various cleaning materials are also kept in here.
Off the kitchen is a west-facing conservatory, which is a brilliant place to watch our red squirrel family on the nut feeders, and amazing sunsets over the distant hills
A twin or super king bedroom and a luxury bathroom with walk-in shower and free-standing bath are also on the ground floor
First Floor
A beautiful ironwork staircase leads up to the first floor landing to find one bedroom with super king-sized bed and wonderful westward views and a second, bright east-facing bedroom with king-sized bed. Another luxury bathroom with roll-top, freestanding bath and walk-in shower is also on this floor.
A short corridor and 3 steps lead up to the magnificent first floor drawing room. The large picture windows in this room, which face both east and westwards, afford stunning views/sunsets over the Sheriffmuir Battlefield towards the distant hills and sunrise over the gardens. There is a small stereo HIFi in here and the TV has a DVD player and SKY TV connection.
The master bedroom suite leads off the drawing room and consists of a sizeable bedroom with large picture windows to the east east west, a dressing room and a luxury en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower and roll-top bath. The super king-sized bed in this room can also be made up as a pair of singles if required.
Second Floor
The ironwork staircase continues up to the second floor, where you will find a single, turret bedroom, a twin bedroom and a double bedroom, all with amazing views over the gardens/orchard. A small, but perfectly formed bathroom, with an over bath hand wash spray tap, serves the rooms on this floor.
Within the 20-acres of grounds, are the turreted Georgian house, which sleeps thirteen, and two cottages that sleep four in each. Cots and/or highchairs are available upon request.
The gardens around the property support many species of birds (woodpeckers, buzzards, nuthatch, tree creeper etc.), mammals (red squirrels, roe deer etc.) and amphibians and include an orchard with gazebo, ancient trees, drifts of spring daffodils, amazing azeleas and rhododendrons (flowering in late spring) and many "natural" areas for the wildlife and humans to explore.
Beyond the enclosed grounds and garden, there are walks along paths and through woodland up to a summerhouse overlooking two ponds. The property is ideal for larger groups wishing to be based with easy access to Stirling, the Trossachs, Edinburgh & Glasgow and many other places of interest, including Gleneagles and the Highlands of Scotland
There are a couple of rooms locked in the property these are for linen and sundries. Outside access we just ask for guests staying in any property on the estate respect the privacy of the other guests and keep their dogs under control.
Important - Please Note:
• Please note the private drainage is very sensitive to "wrong" items being
flushed down the loos. Please keep to the usual P, P & P advice given by most water authorities throughout the UK. Nothing more than Poo, Pee & (loo) Paper should be flushed
and definitely NO wipes (or condoms/sanitary/incontinence items etc.) of any kind, please.
• Please do not plug any car charging cables into the domestic electricity supply we cannot support the extra load required to charge hybrid or fully electric cars.
The main house, Stable Cottage & Barn Cottage can be let together, or separately (House alone sleeps 13; 17 with one cottage or 21 with both). If booking two or more properties, please send me a message and I will be able to offer a discounted price.
